Fred is a native Seattleite.  He attended college at Princeton (Biology) then went to medical school at University of Washington.  He did an internal medicine residency at the University of Minnesota before returning to UW for his fellowship in Infectious Diseases.  Fred has been on faculty at UW since 1995.  He is an NIH supported principal investigator with a lab located at the Center for Emerging and Reemerging Infectious Diseases (South Lake Union campus).  He has a clinical practice in general infectious diseases at UW Medical Center.  He also teaches infectious diseases in the medical school.
